Mainstage Productions
Torn Space’s Mainstage Series reimagines theater classics and brings contemporary plays to life with an emphasis on innovative and multimedia design. Cutting-edge scenography, costuming, sound, and lighting make our Mainstage Productions singular performance experiences and consistently earn Torn Space recognition at the annual Artie Awards. With high literary merit and experimental direction, staging and casting, productions in this series bring world-class contemporary performance to Buffalo.
Individual Artist Series
The Individual Artist Series highlights the exemplary work of local and international artists through special event presentations, introducing audiences to a wider community of visionary contemporary creatives, often in a uniquely intimate, salon-style setting. This series focuses on building cross-disciplinary awareness, connection and collaboration in the artistic community.
Site-Specific Performance
Perhaps the most visible of Torn Space’s programming is its large-scale site-specific performances which draw large audiences to epic settings such as Silo City and Central Terminal for spectacular experimental theater events. These performances have earned Torn Space national and international recognition in PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art, and at the Prague Quadrennial conference in 2019 and 2023. These multidisciplinary projects feature dozens of artists as actors, designers, and community members as performers.
